Article: About the Moon
Dark of the Moon
Many people cite that they become more intuitively alert during the last phase of the Moon’s cycle, the Dark of the Moon. And well, some people will tell you that other people are paranoid during certain lunations. Songs, poetry and myth surround the Dark of the Moon phenonmenon. The ancients relied on the lunar calendar long before using the Solar. “What’s your sign?” meant what is your Moon sign and birthdays were celebrated with a round loaf of bread, later sweetened up to a cake. In today’s society, it’s nearly impossible for most people to rest, relax and release on a Balsamic Moon that falls on a work weekday but do what you can to honor the Moon in her last Phase today and you’ll be better off for it. Clear your desk, clean up, eat right and get some rest.
Monday is named after the Moon
Monday is the Day of the Moon. The Moon is a female energy associated with the mother and tending to our personal needs. The Moon is lunar and rules our emotional landscape, moods, intuition, our inner secretary, nurturer, cook, babysitter, housekeeper and caretaker. Too much Moon can create smothering others, extreme mood swings, and a sense of distorted reality where emotions becoming out of kilter and are not balanced with clear thinking and logic.
- Using Geocentric or Heliocentric calculation methods, the Moon never Retrogrades, it always moves in DIRECT motion spending about 2.5 days in each sign with a New and Full Moon every 29-30 days and there are always 2 pairs of Solar and Lunar Eclipses each year.
- Using Geocentric calculation methods, the North and South Lunar Nodes, often called the Dragon’s Head and Tail are also considered (but not used in Heliocentric charting).
The Moon rules the core identity of Cancer.
