Article: What are Houses in a Geocentric Chart?
The sequential 12 Houses are the triangle divisions that make up the pie of the Geocentric Coordinate System Chart. The 1h is always located on the mid left side of the round chart wheel, and the numbers increase from 1 through 12 moving in a counter clock wise direction.
- Each House has its own specific meaning which is often referred to as an “area of life”.
- If the Houses are occupied, which is when there are planets and signs located in a particular House, then the action in the House takes on additional interpretation. If there are several of these grouped in a single House then that also adds extra complexity to the interpretation. This is a lot like being in a crowded room or elevator with many diverse personalities occupying the same space.
- Empty Houses allow for more flexibiilty in a Geocentric Chart.
Houses are not used in Heliocentric Coordinate System Charts.

Heliocentric versus Geocentric
Whether you use Geocentric or Heliocentric calculation methods, the Aspects, Planets and Zodiac Signs and Degrees mean the same thing.
The big difference is that from the Helio Sun-centered perspective, planets do not Retrograde, both the Cancer and Leo are ruled by Earth so you don’t see the Sun and Moon on a Helio chart, nor are Lunar Nodes, the MC and IC, or Houses used. The Geo is an Earth-centered perspective and includes all of the above.
